Jimmy Bridges, PhD, LMFT, CFLE

Licensed Relationship Therapist in Massachusetts and Vermont

Hello and welcome! You can call me Jimmy!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly a decade of clinical experience working with couples. If you are looking for a therapist to help you and your partner(s) communicate more effectively, resolve conflict, manage tension due to differences, increase intimacy, establish healthy boundaries, better navigate non-monogamy, polyamory, or opening up, we might be a good fit. I am neurodiverse-informed, queer affirming, and have extensive knowledge, resources, and training in navigating non-monogamous relationships.

My approach is thorough, direct, curious, and compassionate. Whether you are queer, gender expansive, trans, cisgender, gay, straight, monogamous, or non-monogamous, I will guide you through a better understanding of who you are and who you want to be in your relationships. I will also help you take responsibility for your own growth and have more meaningful and fulfilling connections. If you want to get the most out of our work together, I want you to be able to answer the following questions before we get started. These questions require honesty, self confrontation, and humility.

  1. What kind of relationship do you want to create?

  2. What are your motivations for creating this kind of relationship? Honesty is needed here.

  3. What do you (not your partner) need to do/change in order to get there?

  4. What do you do that gets in the way of getting the thing you want from your partner?

If you are interested in my credentials, here is more about my professional background. I have formal training in couples therapy, beginning in graduate school as a Marriage and Family therapy MS and PhD student. I was trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Gottman Couples Therapy, Discernment Counseling, IMAGO couples therapy, and Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT). Additionally, I have completed Level 1 training and I am currently receiving advanced training in the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy. The developmental model integrates the frameworks of differentiation, attachment, and neuroscience. When working with me you can expect to have a lot of structure in tackling areas of stuckness in the relationship, as well as gaining some useful regulation skills. I may supplement our Developmental model therapy with EFT, Gottman, and/or IMAGO.

If you want to learn more about me, my approach, and if we would be a good fit, don’t hesitate to reach out. I offer consultations free of charge. I know how hard it is to find someone that you really believe is going to get you and your relationship. Hope to talk to you soon! jimmy@thisspacebetween.com
